Get a look inside Ascend Wellness, Boston's first recreational marijuana dispensary
Boston’s first potential recreational marijuana dispensary offered an initial glimpse of what is planned for the five-story development at 272 Friend Street, detailing a new kind of pot retail store set to open near North Station.
Ascend Wellness will begin construction on the basement and first two floors of the 16,932-square-foot structure, after receiving final sign off from the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals on Tuesday. Build-out, described by the company's attorney as “substantial,” is expected to take six to nine months.
The end result will be a multi-floor experience for cannabis consumers, one where customers are able to see and even smell merchandise, see specific brands, and be walked through by a customer service employee. Customers will order products from the floor and pick them up in a separate area, or order ahead online for express ordering.
